If you have a soft spot for cyberpunk settings, you could hardly avoid Ghostrunner in addition to Cyberpunk 2077. As part of yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase, Ghostrunner 2, an action sequel, was officially announced.
Cyberpunk fans have reason to be happy, because 505 Games, together with the development studio One More Level, is continuing the first-person action game Ghostrunner with a second part. The sequel will be released later in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Ghostrunner 2 takes place a year after its predecessor and now sees cyber ninja protagonist Jack escaping the Dharma Tower for the first time to explore the vast wasteland beyond. The developers also promise “even more intense, even faster fights” and “another challenging gameplay” for the sequel. The aim is not only to bring back the strengths of the original, but also to expand them further with new elements. You can then cross the wasteland for the first time on Jack’s new motorcycle, which is why vehicle battles await you.
Otherwise you can expect from the sequel what is usual for sequels: new powers and abilities for the protagonist, a fresh and, according to the makers, profound story, a complex world and of course new enemies.
The first Ghostrunner was provided with mostly excellent Steam reviews and ratings. The title, which can best be described as a mix of Titanfall, Dishonored and Superhot, sold over half a million copies.
