The Marvel Cinematic Universe will welcome Giancarlo Esposito next year with the launch of Captain America: Brave New WorldThe first trailer for the film has given us a glimpse of the actor in action, but it seems that no one has been able to discover the true identity of his character.
In an interview with the American media ComicBookMovieEsposito revealed that despite the trailer showing his character in action, no viewer has yet guessed which villain the Danish-born actor will play at Marvel Studios.
“The character I play is a tough guy. That always excites me. For me, developing that character in accordance with his background is a fascinating art. I had a blast filming it. I’m not going to tell you who I play… people are still trying to figure out who it is and no one has quite figured it out yet.”
There are many theories about the character Esposito could be playing. On the one hand, there is the option of G. W. Bridgea high-ranking mercenary who is part of the Wild Group. On the other hand, it could be Paladinanother lesser-known mercenary who is recurring in Daredevil stories and who was also a member of the group led by Silver Sable.
Another possibility is that this is an original MCU character, born from a combination of several characters. This would explain why “no one has guessed it right”, since it would be a character created specifically for the film saga, but with inspirations from other villains and superheroes from the House of Ideas. Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters around the world on February 14, 2025.
