Gearbox Publ ishing reserved the right to officially approve Godfall's first game for Sony's new PlayStation 5 console. The title is a "Looter Slasher", which is in the Studio Counterplay Games in progress and will be released in the fall of 2020 in addition to the PS5 for the PC.
The ambitious title is described as a third-person action game with real-time fighting and should reach the grade AAA. The focus is also on cooperative gameplay, because the game should play better together with friends.
The technical basis is provided by the Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games. This does not necessarily mean that the PC release is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, but this is the case here. In the console area, the release is exclusively for the PlayStation 5; the Xbox Series X goes blank.
Keith Lee, Creative Director of Godfall, emphasizes in a first statement that the game wants to bring the Action RPG genre back to life. Among other things, the game should be characterized by a "rewarding, skill-based offensive gameplay". Also, the structure of the players should play a major role and it will give all sorts of loot.
