If you are considering booking tickets to visit Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire This April, think again! Because it will be released a few weeks early in March.
The latest film in Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse, which promises to reunite Godzilla and Kong after their confrontation in the previous film, was originally scheduled to hit theaters on April 12, but Deadline reports it now has a new release date of March 29th. That was a full two weeks ago, so like you’re still two weeks away from seeing giant lizards and monkeys making their way rather clumsily through crystal caves! lucky you!

It’s unclear why the movie’s release was moved up a few weeks, as not many other movies were released during that time. But the March release date does now coincide with the release of Ghostbusters: Ice Empire , another blockbuster that may also feature some giant entities, just spooky ones. Deadline also reports that the release date of Ghostbusters: Ice Empire will be pushed back a week, originally scheduled to be released on March 29, and will now be released a week earlier on March 22.
Maybe Columbia Pictures got wind of Godzilla x Kong’s release date through the grapevine and was concerned that Paul Rudd wouldn’t be able to handle all the giant monster action (but that may have more to do with it getting more screen time in the spring ) as stated on the deadline).
Another Warner Bros. movie, “Mickey 17,” directed by “Parasite” director Bong Joon-ho, has also had its release date canceled, apparently due to production changes caused by last year’s strike. However, a new date is apparently coming soon, so it doesn’t sound like the project has been cancelled.
The plot of Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire isn’t fully detailed yet, so for now, you’ll have to wait until its new release date of March 29 to find out what it’s about.
