entire japanese gangster The series was recently released on DRM-free PC game retailer GOG, but it appears many developers have been dropped from credits.
In general, releasing a game DRM-free is a good thing because it means you own the game without having to worry about having a store client to run it. Yakuza 0 to 6 was recently released on GOG, where all games are DRM-free and the entire series is heavily discounted. Honestly, it’s a great thing, but it does come with a caveat – as Reddit user Timo653 discovered on the Yakuza subreddit, both Lab42 and QLOC were dropped from the credits. In addition to this, the show’s creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Daisuke Sato were also removed from the production credits, among others.

Two developers handle all PC ports of the games (Lab42 porting Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1, QLOC porting Kiwami 2 to Yakuza 6). So it’s obviously odd that they’ve both been dropped from the credits, considering they’re the reason the game came to PC.
Apparently also dodgy, the series’ creator, Nagoshi, and one of its main producers, Sato, have been removed. As early as October 2021, Nagoshi announced that he would leave Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio to form his own team, Nagoshi Studio, and Sato would also leave to help start a new studio.
It’s unclear if this was an intentional omission by RGG, though it’s a bit unnecessarily malicious, especially since it wouldn’t even be able to sell these games on GOG without Lab42 or QLOC. Hopefully the release of Yakuza: Gaiden later this year will be recognized by everyone.
