release date Goldeneye 007 Already set for Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass, coming soon. Like, really soon, this Friday, January 27th.
Announced during a Nintendo Direct broadcast last year, the iconic Bond game returns with all the nostalgia in it — and more.
The Switch Online version will offer online multiplayer for up to four players, allowing people from all over the world to play together. This is the only version of the game that has this feature. In multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in multiple Bond movie-based scenarios from You Only Live Twice, The Dead by Daylight, The Man with the Golden Gun, and License to Kill “.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S can also play with up to three other people, but only in loc al split-screen mode — just like in the past. This version supports up to 4K UHD, with alternate control options, achievements and native 16:9 resolution. If you happen to own a digital copy of Rare Replay, the 30-game collection, you’ll be able to download the game for free.
The 1997 first-person shooter from Rare, based on the 1995 movie GoldenEye, was a huge success for the Nintendo 64, grossing over $250 million worldwide. In the game, you control James Bond through a series of levels to prevent the Janus crime syndicate, led by his friend and former 006 agent Alec Trevelyan, from using satellite weapons to wreak havoc on London and the world.
GoldenEye 007 features portraits of some of the film’s actors, including Pierce Brosnan (007), Sean Bean (006), Alan Cumming (Boris Grishenko), Famke Janssen (Xenia Onatopp), Isabellasco Natalya Simonova et al.
It’s great to see such a great game back, considering it’s one of the most influential and groundbreaking games in the first-person shooter genre. Hopefully it still translates well and our love and nostalgia for it doesn’t die in this modern age.
