A month before the release of the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the World Tree, its legendary director Hidetaka Miyazaki has mixed news for fans.
In an interview with Chinese website Zhizu, the Elden Ring director explained his plans for FromSoftware’s absolute masterpiece. If the Sans-Éclats might not like these at first glance, there are commendable reasons for this, according to Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Elden Ring highlights his plans for the future
On June 21st, Elden Ring will welcome its highly anticipated major DLC Shadow of the World Tree. Hidetaka Miyazaki, its influential director and CEO of the brilliant Japanese studio FromSoftware, spoke to Chinese website Zhizu on the subject. The man therefore took the opportunity to clarify his plans for the future of his latest masterpiece. Unfortunately for fans, no second DLC is included.
« We prefer to release a single large expansion rather than splitting new content into multiple parts. This would limit the freedom of exploration and sense of adventure that the game offers “, said the director of Elden Ring. In all likelihood, Shadow of the World Tree will therefore be the only major DLC for the FromSoftware title. But the Shardless have no reason to give up their hope of a later return to the Underland.
A few months earlier, Hidetaka Miyazaki actually hinted in an interview with IGN that he wouldn’t say no to a sequel to a second major expansion. We now know that his plans on this second point have changed. But the door for an Elden Ring 2 doesn’t seem to be closed. In such a scenario, FromSoftware fans still have to be patient. Creating a masterpiece requires a lot of time to achieve perfection with both fingers.
