If you’ve been dying to play Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree in seamless co-op, I’ve got good news: the mode has just been updated.
Anyone who’s played any of FromSoftware’s modern games knows that its online multiplayer can be a lot of fun on one hand, but can also be a hassle on the other. Elden Ring is no exception, but thankfully there’s a seamless co-op mode that makes playing the game online with friends a lot easier. Of course, last week saw the release of the game’s much-anticipated DLC expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, and with it comes a new version of the game. Updates usually require updated mods, otherwise they’re often incompatible. Spotted by PC Gamer, the seamless co-op mode has been updated today, meaning you can now play Shadow of the Erdtree with friends a lot easier.

“While it’s not perfect, it’s getting to a state where it can be used for co-op with Elden Ring and the DLC,” said Dalvik, an admin on the Seamless Co-op mod Discord server. So if you fire it up tonight, don’t expect everything to run smoothly, especially given some of the framerate issues the DLC currently has without any mods. The mod is also a pretty big update, as it lets you keep your saves from previous seamless co-op games. But it also introduces invasions for the first time, so you can get more of a classic experience and ruin someone else’s day (or your own).
Other handy additions include the ability to adjust enemy levels, items gained during conversations will now be available to all players, and some old issues (such as enemies falling through the floor) no longer occur.
If you’re worried about what game director Hidetaka Miyazaki would think of you playing the game online in this way, don’t worry! As he recently said, he doesn’t mind people playing the game using a mode like this (and may even introduce a similar feature in a future game).
