As inflation takes place around the world, Xbox is making a very important decision for gamers and consumers. We can tell you that.
With inflation, we recently learned that the PlayStation will increase its price by another 50 dollars. Which annoys consumers and further reduces players’ purchasing power. But obviously Xbox wants to make a different decision.
Phil Spencer at the helm of Xbox
Speaking at Tokyo Game Show 2022, Xbox boss Phil Spencer reiterated his desire not to see the Microsoft Series X/S console go up in price. The information comes from the chain CNBC :
I can never say we will ever do anything, but I can definitely say today that we have no intention of increasing the price of our Xbox consoles. We believe that at a time when our customers are facing economic difficulties more than ever, this would not be the right decision.
Microsoft explains that it wants to bear and absorb the additional logistics costs and the increase in raw material prices instead of passing everything on to its customers. Two completely different strategies between Sony and its PlayStation and Microsoft and its Xbox.
This agrees with the words of a other manager at Microsoft, who explains:
We’re constantly evaluating our store to offer our fans great gaming options. Our suggested retail price for Series S remains at $299 ($300), Xbox Series X is $499 ($500).
