More than a year after the release of Baldur's Gate III, Larian still has some big surprises in store for the community: Patch 8 is scheduled for next year.
BG3 hasn't said its last word yet
With the Game Awards 2024 starting soon, last year's game continues to shine. After giving players a complete modding tool to craft a customized experience and implement numerous new endings, Larian Studios could have put an end to the epic Baldur's Gate III and fully invest in the development of his next game. However, the studio has decided otherwise and plans to soon offer Patch 8 of GOTY 2023, which will bring a whole host of new features, starting with 12 new subclasses. The studio announced the news in a post shared on Steam and has already revealed details about these subclasses Here. But these aren't the only innovations coming to Baldur's Gate III in 2025.

Crossplay, photo mode… lots of new features
As Larian is determined to transform its title into the ultimate game, the studio has decided to implement several features expected by the community. Since adventure knows no boundaries, players from different platforms can finally come together with the introduction of crossplay. This means PC, Mac, Xbox and PS5 players can all join the same group and start a game together via Larian's server. Finally, Photo Mode will be officially implemented with the release of Patch 8. This mode will feature numerous customization tools that will allow players to capture the best shots of the majestic lands of Faerûn. After a short stress testing phase, Patch 8 is expected to be officially deployed in the first few months of 2025.
