Those hoping we’d get a Predator movie featuring aliens will be happy to hear that Badlands is doing just that.
The Predator is experiencing a bit of a renaissance right now, with Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey releasing to critical acclaim in 2022. Filming on the next Predator movie has begun in August (actually the next two movies, which is a nice surprise for Trachtenberg), and in an interview with Empire magazine, the director said that the upcoming Wasteland will do something a little different by casting an expert hunting alien as the protagonist for a change. “This creature was front and center, leading the charge,” Trachtenberg said in the interview.

“He’s still awesome, but there’s also something that touches you emotionally. Creating a character that you can relate to but be intimidated by has been challenging. But also exciting.” Tracher Berg went on to explain that the idea came from wanting to “find another important movie that spiritually accomplished what Prey did — push the boundaries of the series and make us root for a hero we rarely root for — But in a different way.” That turned into a big idea for predators. ”
But in the sequel, it won’t always be aliens – Elle Fanning will also star in next year’s “Death Stranding 2”, and apparently in more than one role. “She faced huge challenges in this movie — dramatic, physical, logistical,” Trachtenberg said of Fanning, which sounds like a lot of fun.
There are still a lot of secrets surrounding this secretive Predator movie, although Trachtenberg did previously say that the film would be released before Into the Badlands. Into the Badlands is currently set to be released on November 7th next year, which means you can expect the secret version until November 6th at the latest, but I’m sure they’ll give it a little more space.
