It turns out that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a few aspects that are a bit like Marmite, and one of them is Dragon’s Plague. Some may find sending your infected pieces on a city-destroying rampage more of an annoyance than a challenge. Thankfully, a new mod looks to be able to help in a very interesting way.
To be fair, having to worry about your party members’ eyes turning red after a confrontation with a dragon or dragons was a nice little distraction from the main discussion point at launch for DD2, which was that those who weren’t Cool but for the most part effective microtransactions affect what you can earn in the game. Sometimes, though, you wish this inherent horror was more cartoony.

Enter “Dragonsplague Counter” by modder rthomasv3. What does it do? Well, simply put, it makes it super easy to figure out exactly which of your pieces have Dragon Plague. Literally all you have to do is look at them as their infection level has effectively landed in the middle of their forehead.
Yep, just a red number from one to ten that tells you exactly whether that abominable guy of yours named Jeff is a royalty-free version of Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, or your grandma’s Human cloning is so close to being a pervert. I guess it might be a little difficult to tell if they’re already killing everyone, but other than that, you shouldn’t have to bother trying to tell when something bad is going to happen.
That said, when a pawn’s infection level reaches level seven, their eyes will still start glowing, just in case having a large number of sevens emblazoned on their skin, hat, or helmet isn’t enough to indicate that feces is about to splatter anything Medieval stuff. The equivalent of a fan’s fantasy. Okay, so, this isn’t the most immersive mod ever, but the uninfected pieces should still have no numbers, so there’s that.
And, that means that unlike mods that remove or weaken the mechanic (some of which have started popping up recently), you’re not missing out on it entirely. You know, this is part of the game for a reason, even if that reason is to make your reanimator’s life more difficult.
So, that’s one thing. If you’re having some trouble with other aspects of Dragon’s Dogma 2, know that mods may not be able to come up with interesting solutions, like answering the Sphinx’s riddles or choosing what to do with the Emerald Orb.
