news hardware Google Maps shifts up a gear with this stunning novelty
During its developer conference this Wednesday, May 11, Google presented the future of its services with a multitude of new possibilities. This new feature of Google Maps has particularly caught our attention.
Google Maps adds 3D mapping
The Google I/O takes place every year and mainly focuses on new software releases. Google obviously had a lot to tell us, including what Google Maps will soon have to offer.
When we explore a city and want to get an idea of what the places we want to go look like, we want to have accurate information to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Google Maps is by far the most used navigation application and intends to remain so without resting on its laurels. Google is preparing to integrate 3D mapping with the Immersive View feature.
Specifically, it is an almost exact reproduction of places, in color and in 3 dimensions. And the least we can say is that it’s pretty impressive. You can choose a place and admire it at different times of the day while checking information about wealth or the weather.

But the most amazing thing is that Google promises to add the ability to see the inside of a bar or restaurant directly from the application.. But how is that possible?
No drone required, Google Maps uses all the photos from previous clients and a bit of artificial intelligence to recreate an animation that gives the impression of entering and visiting the place.
Best of all, this option isn’t just for Google Pixel owners, or even Android. Any smartphone should be able to use it.
As you can imagine with this type of innovation, not everyone is entitled to it at the same time. Only Los Angeles, London, New York and San Francisco will be compatible for now, with Tokyo to follow later this year.
The Google project is no easy task and we can only hope that cities like Paris will take on this role throughout 2023.
