Google will equip the Pixel 8 Pro with a high-resolution night mode. Dataminers found that out. However, the technology behind it is not new.
In terms of camera equipment and photo quality, Google’s Pixel smartphones offer very good value for money. The Google Pixel 8 Pro will continue on this path and will most likely include a high-resolution night mode.
That reports AndroidCentral and relies on findings from data miners. They’ve spotted traces of a new mode exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro in the latest version of the camera app, which builds on the Pixel 7’s “Super Res Zoom”.
Roughly simplified, this zoom uses the data from the built-in camera sensors to improve the level of detail in images. In the new mode, this technology is to be expanded to include a night mode and thus optimize the image quality in poor lighting conditions. How well that works remains to be seen.
