Google intends to continue betting on Stadia and for that he has announced the program Stadia Makers, whose purpose is to attract the attention of indie developers, in order to implement the games on the platform and even the possibility of self-publishing if the studio has recognized experience.
The program requirements are the mandatory use of Unity and put the game on sale between 2020 and 2021 and that Stadia is one of the platforms for which it is available, that is, it does not have to be exclusive. The benefits consist of the delivery of five free physical development kits, financing to cover part of the costs of the development of the title and technical assistance from Unity.
It will be interesting to see if this will help indie games rebound in the Google streaming console taking into account the recent criticism from some developers about the lack of financial support when adapting games to Stadia.
