Google’s game streaming service Stadia ultimately turned out to be a flop and is known to be completely discontinued. What this means for buyers of Ubisoft games in the future has now been announced.
Several Ubis oft games had also been released on Google Stadia, starting with Immortals: Fenyx Rising in December 2020 and followed by more games. A total of 37 Ubisoft games are available in the game streaming service, which users may have bought but will no longer be able to play there in the future. For this reason, Ubisoft now offers a way out, so to speak.
As has now been announced, buyers of a game on Stadia from Ubisoft will receive a PC version of the respective game via Ubisoft Connect at no additional cost. The first titles had already appeared in the game libraries of the players over the weekend.
In order for such a transfer to actually work, a Ubisoft Connect account must be created and linked to your own Stadia account. In the end, this may even be a good deal for players, because Google had promised to refund all money for game purchases and DLC purchases. In the end, Stadia players can enjoy completely free games with the PC versions.
Stadia players who have opted into Ubisoft Plus Multi-Access will receive an email from the company with instructions on how to continue their subscription via the Ubisoft Plus website. In addition, the whole thing comes with a free month of use for the service.
Google had confirmed the end of Stadia in September; the streaming service only started in 2019, but was never able to establish itself sufficiently, so that it will finally be over on January 18, 2023.
