It’s a big week for Fortnite. First, it saw the arrival of LEGO Fortnite, a Minecraft-style survival game where you play as LEGO characters in a Fortnite-like world. Then Rocket League and Fortnite teamed up to launch Rocket Racer, a racing game in, well, um, Fortnite. Finally, yesterday arrived Fortnite Festival, a rhythm game from Rock Band developer Harmonix that features some big hits like The Killers’ Mr. Brightside and Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy. Of course, the Harmonix-developed product has fans wondering if they’ll be able to use their old Rock Band controllers, and in an interview with IGN, Harmonix studio director Alex Rigopulos confirmed that it’s at least working on instrument peripheral support.
“Not at launch, but supporting instrument peripherals in games is a top priority for us,” Rigopulos said. “This is actually something we’re already actively working on. We don’t have anything concrete to say yet other than that it’s coming soon.” While this isn’t exactly confirmation that you’ll be able to use your old Rock Band controller, you should be able to Use some of the more modern instrument controllers. There’s a wide range of these things, though, so hopefully the latest controllers will have some to offer.
While Rigopulos said Harmonix had nothing specific to say, a blog post about Fortnite Festival did clarify that details about support for instrument controllers will be released sometime in 2024, so you’ll just have to keep an eye out. .
The fifth chapter of the hit battle royale game, which launched earlier this month, previewed the arrival of a new sub-game and also introduced more guest characters like Family Guy’s Peter Griffin and Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake.
