Gotham Knights Although so far advertised as allowing two-player co-op, it may let you play online with up to four players.
Currently Gotham Knights is just for you to play online with other friends, but the game’s PSN store page has recently been updated to “support up to 4 online players with PS Plus” (via Reddit). It reiterates this by distinguishing support for the maximum number of players offline and online, allowing only one offline and four online. Of all the game’s marketing so far, only the two-man collaboration has been advertised, which is a big change for online gaming.
Gotham Knights was originally intended to launch last year after a 2020 release, but was vaguely delayed to 2022. However, the game now has a confirmed release date of October 25th. The delay to 2022 was confirmed in March 2021, so it’s almost a year and a half delay, which means the addition of the four-player co-op could be a big part of the delay.
It’s unclear how this will change online gameplay, as missions are designed around two-player co-op, but it could also be a bug on the store page. We do know that while the game is separate from the Arkham game, it draws a lot from it mechanically, the combat is designed around the fact that it has online co-op.
Although if you do think Gotham Knights are Arkham Knightwhich is totally understandable, considering the latter ends with Batman’s death, while the former’s main concept is about Batman’s death and his group of traumatized children taking care of Gotham.
But it’s also the first game to focus on bat mates, so whether people will care about the same big thing without the big guy. While Gotham Knight is the first adaptation of the Court of Owls storyline, it should offer fans of the Caped Crusader something a little different.
