Bang. While we’re all waiting for more interesting trailers and information about Death Stranding 2, the director’s cut of the original Death Stranding has surprisingly arrived on Xbox Series X/S.
While the base version of the game has previously been available on Xbox – Game Pass – it was only available on PC and the service was discontinued last August. Now, five years after it first arrived on PS4, it’s officially arriving on the Phil Spencer console.

“Kojima Productions and video game publisher 505 Games are proud to announce Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Hideo Kojima’s final vision for the critically acclaimed, genre-defying epic, now available on Xbox Series X/S, Windows Launching on PC and Amazon Cloud Gaming Luna just in time for Death Stranding’s fifth anniversary,” the studio wrote in a blog post announcing the event.
The post continues: “Death Stranding, which debuted on PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019, celebrates its fifth anniversary today, connecting with more than 19 million players worldwide.” X/S, Windows PC, and Luna, We will continue to expand the Death Stranding IP in various entertainment formats and connect with more players from around the world, so stay tuned for more announcements! “

The studio also took the opportunity to announce in a press release that it now has full ownership of the Death Stranding IP, which is a good thing for it.
Good for you, this surprise price drop comes with a ‘limited time’ discount, which means you can currently buy the game for half price on Xbox and PC – the UK price is £17.49 instead of £35. As you’d expect, the Series X/S version supports Xbox Achievements, along with additional Director’s Cut features like photo mode and ultrawide monitor support.
