Gran Turismo is considered the flagship racing series on the PlayStation and will of course also play an important role for genre fans on the upcoming PS5. The makers will put the focus on the frame rate.

Higher resolution or higher frame rate? A discussion that has not only been around since the release of PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. The two current flagships from Sony and Microsoft often offer different modes in supported games that allow players to set their own priorities. You can often choose between a higher 4K resolution or a better frame rate.
As far as the future of Gran Turismo and the use of the power of the upcoming PS5 are concerned, developer Polyphony Digital apparently already has more concrete plans. Designer Kazunori Yamauchi now emphasized in an interview that the studio is concentrating heavily on enabling rather higher frame rates. Gran Turismo could run at 120 or even 240 fps in the future – if it can be technically implemented, according to Yamauchi.
Reason: According to Yamauchi, an 8K resolution theoretically possible on the PS5 would only offer added value to a limited extent. "I think 4K is simple enough in terms of resolution," said the legendary designer on the subject.
"In contrast to the spatial resolution you are talking about, I am more interested in what we can improve in terms of temporal resolution. As far as the frames per second are concerned, I am interested in raising the level to 120 fps or even 240 fps than staying at 60 fps. I think that's what will change the game experience from now on in the future, "said Yamauchi.
The PS5 is not explicitly mentioned by Yamauchi, but it is known that the Sony console will theoretically support 8K resolutions. For the next Gran Turismo on the PS5 you will be able to expect a noticeable improvement in fps.
