So, now there is no longer any doubt. Rockstar and Take-Two have now officially announced GTA: The Trilogy with dates for all variants, plus trailers and everything that goes with it.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will appear digitally on November 11th via the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store for Xbox, the Nintendo eShop and the Rockstar Games Launcher. Physical versions for Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 will be released on December 7th. Starting November 11th, players will be able to play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition through Xbox Game Pass. From December 7th, Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition will be available through PlayStation Now.
The GTA Trilogy of course contains the classics Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in a revised form. This includes a control scheme based on GTA V and, thanks to the Unreal Engine, comprehensive visual improvements such as higher resolution, improved graphic representation of the entire world and much more.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition offers vastly improved and modernized controls, for example through improved aiming mechanics, updated weapon and radio station selection, updated mini maps with revised navigation and waypoint functionality and more. The version for Nintendo Switch has controls adapted to the Switch, including camera zoom and pan as well as menu selection via touchscreen and free aiming via the analog sticks of the Joy-Cons.
Further improvements to all three titles include the completely redesigned lighting system, including shadow and weather effects as well as reflections, redesigned character and vehicle models, and higher-resolution textures for buildings, weapons, streets, interiors and more. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition also features a number of environment enhancements such as new vegetation, smoother surfaces, and increased visibility.
