The development of Grand Theft Auto VI seems to be slowly but surely entering the hot phase. There’s no other way to explain why Rockstar is calling its developers back to the offices.
The pleasant times of home office and remote work will apparently soon be over for Rockstar employees. It has been revealed that Rockstar has asked its developers to spend five days a week in the office again from April as work on Grand Theft Auto VI appears to be entering its final stages.
In a statement from Rockstar’s Head of Publishing, Jenn Kolbe, that Bloomberg “If we make these changes now, we’ll be in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto with the quality, polish we think it needs, and a release schedule to create something that corresponds to the scope and demands of the game.”
The Bloomberg report mentioned that the company has seen tangible benefits from working with other developers in person. Not a new statement, but one that employers often use to counter the advantages of working from home.
But the measure probably has other reasons, above all to keep the lid on the game as much as possible and to avoid further leaks. We remember the extensive data leak in September 2022, in which a number of videos and images were leaked, at the time by a hacker who is now in a prison hospital for an indefinite period of time due to mental insanity.
The first trailer for GTA 6 was also leaked several hours before the planned release and was then released early by Rockstar. It is understandable that it is in Rockstar’s interest to avoid further leaks at all costs. The employees, however, are probably less enthusiastic about the office pressure.
