After numerous rumors about a possible delay, publisher Take-Two has now spoken out about the release date of GTA 6. A corresponding update was now available in a new annual report.
There has recently been a lot of speculation about the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI. There was talk of a delay to 2026, but this could not be confirmed by reputable insiders. As a result, a former Rockstar Games employee also spoke out and emphasized that any solid statements about a delay would probably only be possible next year.
A new statement from publisher Take-Two Interactive has now provided more clarity in all this confusion, as the company has presented its 2024 annual report and, as usual, also takes a look into the company’s future. Consequently, they also commented again on GTA 6 and the release planning.
In the report section about Rockstar Games’ games, it says in relation to the supposed action blockbuster: “Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall of calendar year 2025.” Further details will be announced over time. This statement is repeated and reinforced later in the report in the “Content Release Highlights” segment.
For the moment, it can be concluded that there is nothing to the recent speculation and discussions about a supposedly already confirmed postponement to 2026. The release plan still stands and calls for GTA 6 to be released in just over a year, in time for the 2025 Christmas season.
Whether this date can actually be met in the end is, of course, another matter. Rockstar Games has repeatedly drawn attention to itself in the past by delaying its major titles, but these were only communicated much closer to the planned release date. But at least for the moment, GTA fans can sleep soundly!
