The release date of GTA 6 can be further specified thanks to the appointment of Borderlands 4. The reason for acceptance provide earlier statements from Take-Two Interactive.
The release date of Borderlands 4 was surprisingly announced on the Playstation State of Play last night – and that in turn could allow direct conclusions about the planned publication of Grand Theft Auto VI. While Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive continue to communicate the autumn 2025 as a planned release period for the action epic, the time window can now be further specified-if this is also met in the end.
The autumn 2025 officially begins with September and, according to the State of Play, the publication of Borderlands 4, which has now been lashed on September 23, 2025. The new looter shooter part comes a little earlier and, so to speak, ensures that GTA 6 will hardly come onto the market in September.
Reason: Last November, publisher Take-Two had confirmed in the person of CEO Strauss Zelnick that large publications that are close together wanted to avoid and will. Nobody would bring them onto the market unnecessarily in time.
Since Take-Two is already publishing Borderlands 4 in September, this title will be given enough space to breathe. Even if GTA 6 avoids a shift, which there is always speculation, the epic of Rockstar Games will probably come onto the market at the end of October. Publisher Take-Two will hardly admit Borderlands 4 for less than four weeks before everyone reaches for GTA 6 and put all other titles aside.
The likelihood should therefore even be even higher for a November release or even a publication in December-as I said: if everything remains with the release plan for 2025. Even if neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive lost a word about GTA 6 last night, thanks to Borderlands 4, we already know a whole corner more in terms of the presumed plans.
