There are increasing calls among gamers not to buy games in advance. This sends the wrong message to developers. This call obviously didn’t work with Black Myth: Wukong, because the Soulslike is already selling like crazy before its release.

Black Myth: Wukong – The Soulslike is now available for pre-order, but unfortunately it will be coming to Xbox later
The huge hype surrounding Black Myth: Wukong is relatively easy to explain: watch the trailer for the new Soulslike from China. The UE5 game shines with a high level of detail, smooth animations and neat effects.
Nevertheless, the lone top spot in the Steam top sellers is a surprise. After all, Black Myth has not yet been released and is only available for pre-order. So many players are already giving it their all in advance.
Games from China have undergone a transformation in recent years. What this has to do with the political structure in the Middle Kingdom is explored in this article:
Destiny 2
Yep, Destiny 2 is still alive. And on June 4th it released the long-awaited expansion The Final Shape, which is selling well. In addition, purchases in the main game are catapulting the free-to-play title to the second top seller position.
So if Bungie needs an indicator as to whether a Destiny 3 would be worth it – this could be it. There is currently an alleged leak doing the rounds that speaks of a reveal of the next Destiny title in 2024. But we will have to wait and see if that really happens.
The complete top 10 on Steam
- Black Myth: Wukong
- Destiny 2
- Counter-Strike 2
- Elden Ring
- Steam Deck
- Destiny 2: Die finale Form
- Bodycam
- Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
- Dota 2
- Street Fighter 6
Also worth mentioning: The shooter Bodycam, which is trimmed for realism, has been released in Steam Early Access and jumped straight to number 7 in the top sellers. Here, too, the success was already apparent in advance based on the high number of Steam wishlist entries.
