Total War: Pharaoh welcomes a major free update that radically changes the game for the better. Here’s what this brand new content has in store for us.
In fact, Creative Assembly’s Total War: Pharaoh series will receive its latest free update, titled Dynasties, on July 25. This update promises significant additions to the game, enriching the player experience with new map regions, new cultures, additional game mechanics, and general gameplay improvements.
A major update for Total War
In fact, the addition of Dynasties is described as a large-scale expansion. Players can discover four new iconic Bronze Age cultures: Babylon, Assyria, Mycenae and Troy, as well as 25 smaller factions. The original campaign map is significantly expanded with 168 new settlements. And new sea routes to speed up sea transport.
It also introduces a new dynasty system that allows players to build a family tree. This mechanic involves dealing with strategic marriages, heroic deaths on the battlefield, assassinations, and mortality challenges to leave a lasting legacy.
Finally, the update will add over 150 new combat units. And will rework existing ones to improve battles. Game director Todor Nikolov said the goal was always to recreate the turbulent period of the Bronze Age collapse with an authentic depiction of iconic civilizations and the freedom to rewrite the course of the game.
Creative Assembly announced this free update in May, stressing that it would be the last for the game, marking the end of a turbulent period for the studio. Last December, Creative Assembly apologized for “mistakes” made with the series, and had offered a partial refund for Total War: Pharaoh. Roger Collum, vice president of Creative Assembly, acknowledged the mistakes made by franchise executives, and reiterated their attentiveness to the gaming community.
