A fascinating project
Directed and written by Pinny Grills and Sam Crane, Grand Theft Hamlet stars two actors, Sam Crane and Mark Oosterveen, who are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, with all cinemas closed during the Exit restrictions are closed. The two friends then start playing GTA 5 together and decide to put on a performance of Hamlet in the game itself. Grand Theft Hamlet is described as “extremely funny and surprisingly moving” and has toured festivals including SXSW in the United States, where it won the Best Documentary Award. A fascinating production that deals with art, creativity and life and whose tone oscillates between absurd humor and drama. A film that will soon be available to discover on Mubi.
