rock star Preparations are slowly underway for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, and in the meantime, some new details about co-founder Dan Houser’s new game have been confirmed.
Back in 2020, Houser left Rockstar after 22 years at the company and launched his new studio, Absurd Ventures in Games, the following year. The company is described as offering “off-the-shelf interactive leisure and entertainment software development,” and not much has been confirmed about how it actually works since it was announced. Well, as spotted by GamesRadar , we do now have some details on the studio’s first game thanks to some recent job listings. The listing for the lead game designer position states that the position will enable the selected candidate to be “the primary vision holder and hands-on contributor to character, control, and camera design in an open-world action-adventure game.”

It also mentions that the character needs to offer “best-in-class combat and third-person action across multiple game modes,” so it sounds like the game might be more than just a single-player game. Absurd Adventures then announced its first project, which isn’t actually a game at all, but an audio novel series called A Better Heaven, a sci-fi “set in the near future.” Stories, “tell morbid stories.” – The fateful development of an ambitious but addictive digital game world project led by inventor and psychologist Dr. Mark Tyburn. ”
Absurd Adventures’ press release for the audio series also noted that it is working on a game set in this universe, writing: “In addition to launching the first volume of the A Better Paradise audio series, Houser, Lazlow [Jones], and the Absurd Ventures team has multiple projects set in the A Better Paradise universe in various stages of development, including additional audio novel seasons, as well as television and video game titles. ” Whether the Lead Game Designer role is specific to the game’s setting and exists in the world of Wonderland is unclear, but the sci-fi world is a perfect fit for an open-world action-adventure game.
Earlier this week, Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two narrowed down GTA 6’s release date to sometime in the fall of 2025, so while Absurd Venture’s first game may still be It’s been a while, but the long wait for Rockstar’s latest game doesn’t seem to be that long anymore.
