“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” not only ends James Gunn’s Guardians trilogy, but also Gunn’s time at Marvel itself. In addition, the Guardians team as we have come to know them will never be seen in the MCU again. The end of an era, which after a successful theatrical release can now also be seen in the stream.
Since the launch of Disney+, Marvel fans have often not been in such a hurry to go to the cinema. In the meantime, it doesn’t take long before the films appear in the stream. Marvel Movies: From Cinema to Disney+ in…days
It turns out that not only with the third “Guardians” film, but also with the third “Ant-Man” adventure, exactly 91 days passed between the cinema and Disney + start. About three months, it used to be much faster.
Disney may want to test whether more viewers go to the cinema if the start of the stream is further away. However, the publications can also have other reasons. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” had little success in theaters, so Disney didn’t have to take their time with the stream release.
The cinema will not return to the MCU until November 2023 with “The Marvels”, on Disney + you are currently experiencing the series “Secret Invasion”, in which Nick Fury is dealing with a Skrull invasion.
