Video games: at the gates of the cinema
Over the years, the line between cinema and video games has tightened. The development teams now include many directors and developing a game requires a lot of work with the cast. For JV, Darry Purdy, who must have worked closely with the cast of the game Guardians of the GalaxyShe came back for us to do the cutscenes for a conversation. He explains to us how it can sometimes be difficult to capture the essence of the emotions we want to convey, and how the success of such a challenge is sometimes a miracle, the perfect moment.
Sequence of emotions
The story and narrative of the Guardians of the Galaxy have received widespread critical acclaim. To achieve such a quality, of course, you have to trust the script, but you also have to find the right balance between the different emotions that you can feel. Going from laughter to tears is a difficult task that Darry Purdy particularly likes:
There’s a part of me that loves humor and it’s fun to turn around. But if you dig and explore a little, I think … I prefer to see sad people express their feelings. I am touched (…).
To illustrate his point, the film director returns to one of the key moments in the plot developed during the Guardians of the Galaxy game. As said above, If you want to avoid spoilers, we recommend that you do not watch the video and resume playback once you have started exploring the title of Eidos Montreal. If you’ve already completed the game, there’s no need to worry.
