To everyone’s surprise, guerrilla game has basically confirmed another horizon A game starring Aloy is coming soon.

Earlier today, Guerrilla Games shared a blog post announcing that studio director and executive producer Angie Smets will be leaving the developer after 20 years to join PlayStation Studios as head of development strategy. The post clearly wishes Smets all the best in her new role, but it also very casually confirms that Aloy will return at some point for another Horizon game. “We are confident in our new leadership as they lead Guerrilla into a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy’s next adventure and our exciting online projects,” the post reads.

Smets also offered a small farewell message in the post, writing, “The past two decades at Guerrilla have been an absolute dream. I have been honored to work with some of the smartest and coolest people in the industry. I am very Thanks for everything I’ve learned with all the other Guerrillas. We’ve accomplished so much as a team and I couldn’t be more proud of all the games we’ve put out together.”

With the departure of Smets, there was a change in management, with Joel Eschler as co-studio director and production designer, Hella Schmidt as co-studio director and general manager, and Jan-Bart Van Beek as co-studio director and art director.

We already know that an online spinoff project is in the works, but so far, another game starring Aloy has been technically up in the air. That’s obviously not a shocker, considering how successful these games have been. Unsurprisingly, the post didn’t get any more detailed than that, and the Burning Shores DLC has only just launched, so do keep in mind it’s going to be a while before a more official announcement.

Burning Shores is obviously some impressive DLC, but it does leave open the question of whether quality matters enough to only release on PS5.
