ArenaNet will not be dedicated to Guild Wars 2 forever and has now started working on a new project instead. According to a new report, the men are working on a fantasy action game for consoles, which has not yet been officially announced.
Loud WccfTech The studio is currently looking for a new art director to be responsible for an "unannounced third-person fantasy action title for consoles". Other features of the position include the support and instruction of several other artists and experience with the Unreal Engine 4. This also clarifies the technical basis of the new game.
It is particularly worth mentioning in this context that it will explicitly be a console game. Why is that? Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have always been reserved for PC gamers, so ArenaNet is also entering new waters. After almost two decades, you will no longer only develop for the PC.
In view of the fantasy settings, it would of course not be ruled out that the project could possibly also be a console version of Guild Wars 2. However, the job posting does not contain any references to an MMORPG, and Guild Wars 2 is not an action game either. In addition, the online role-playing game for the PC also uses its own engine and not the aforementioned Unreal Engine 4.
ArenaNet is therefore likely to have a completely new title in the works. We'll keep you up to date!
