Arc System Works, the developer of several hit Japanese games including Guilty Gear: Strive and Dragon Ball Fighter Z, announced in a blog post that it will open a new branch in Paris, France. The branch will be responsible for a variety of tasks including new IP and business development, marketing, customer service, licensing, and localization.
The company is celebrating its 36th anniversary. Its next game, HunterXHunter NenXImpact, released in partnership with Bushiroad Games, has been released in Europe, with its creators announcing an expansion. This isn’t surprising, though, as Arc System Works has been publishing games in Europe for years. Still, it’s a little extra cream in the choux.

There’s a lot more about NenXImpact in the blog post, including the fact that the company intends to show off several additional characters for the game throughout the year leading up to its final release sometime in 2024. One of those characters will be shown off at Evo 2024 later this month. A demo for the game will also be playable at Evo as well as at the Japan Expo in Paris, so be sure to check it out there if you’re in town and want to try it out for yourself.
As the developer of several excellent 2D fighting games, it’s great to see the company expanding, especially at a time when many game development studios are laying off staff or closing down. Hopefully this upward trend continues!
