With the new RTX Remix upgrade, Nvidia has significantly improved the possible graphic splendor in some games, such as Cyberpunk 2077. With path tracing, the lighting effects, reflections and everything around them can be seen much more clearly. This even benefits a spry game like Half-Life 2 – with a little help from modders anyway.
There Half-Life-Fan Igor Zdrowowicz has experimented with the new path tracing, the first screenshots of the mod are definitely impressive:

The reflection on the ground, where the opponents are clearly visible, is particularly impressive. But the cobblestones illuminated by the fire are definitely worth seeing – it’s hardly noticeable that the shooter is almost 20 years old. In any case, as long as you don’t take too long a look at the textures, they won’t be improved by the RTX Remix upgrade.
You can even see some moving path tracing action already, the modder also uploaded a video.

If you’ve gotten really hot on Half-Life 2 with this mod, then you have to practice some more patience: It is still unclear when Igor Zdrowowicz will finish his work. But if the mod comes out, that’s a good reason to step back into the iconic role of Gordon Freeman!
Will you be going straight back to Half-Life 2 once the mod comes out, or have you spent enough time with Gordon Freeman in your life already? Which game would you like a path tracing mod for? Or are you the lighting effects actually completely Wumpe? Write it to us in the comments!
