Will Halo really make the jump to PlayStation 5? According to a new report, a new remaster of the first part could be the start!
Microsoft’s new multiplatform strategy has so far been limited to smaller and live service games, but there have recently been frequent reports in the rumor mill that this could change in the future and that the big Microsoft brands could also appear on PlayStation 5 and the like. If a new report is to be believed, then the action franchise Halo may also make the move to the Sony console.
As the usually reliable and well-informed Tom Warren of The Verge reported that Microsoft is in the early stages of developing a new remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved – the first part of the successful action series. This new edition is also being considered for release on the PlayStation 5, it continues.
While no further details are given about this possible Halo remake for PS5, Warren goes into more detail about the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase in his article. Under the name “Projet Latitude”, further ports of first-party titles are said to be on the way, but according to Warren, Fable, Gears 6 and South of Midnight are not yet planned for this.
The situation is different with the new DOOM game, which will officially be called DOOM: The Dark Ages and will also be released for other platforms beyond the Xbox.
Halo: Combat Evolved had previously been optimized and released as a remaster – namely as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. At that time, the title was reworked with the in-house game engine from 343 Industries and was given achievements, terminals and skulls.
