Until last month, I really thought Xbox Elite Controller Is overrated. I think this is a stupid little novelty, ultimately for those who want to spend a lot of money and own some luxurious things. I was wrong.
I didn’t even keep my “series 1” Xbox Elite controller. I used it for a while, but finally found out that I didn’t use the additions and adjustments that made the peripherals unique. I gave it away after months of uselessness. The paddle is cool, but it used to fall off the back of the controller easily. The upgraded trigger is good, but there is nothing to write about, at least in the games I was actively playing at the time.
Although I have never clicked an elite controller, I am also full of nostalgia for the golden age of the Halo series, especially the hype surrounding Halo 3. So when Xbox launched the limited edition Halo Infinite theme Elite controller…I ordered it. Even when I entered the credit card details, I felt like an idiot-I already owned one of the controllers and got rid of it, so why should I buy another one? However, now I have been playing it-boy, I am glad I did. /p>
Perhaps it is due to Halo Infinite itself. Perhaps it is due to improvements made to the “series 2” variant of the Elite controller, which is said to be improved in every respect over the original. In fact, I think this is a combination of the two. However, the end result is the same: this controller works for me now and has become my main controller on Xbox and PC.
If you swipe your finger in the wrong way, the paddle on the back will no longer fall off. It is equipped with more accessories that can be replaced to customize your experience. It now has a 40-hour built-in battery instead of the nasty old dual battery. It even has brand new features, such as thumbstick tension control and additional stages of trigger locking. So yes, Series 2 is better in every way.
And: if there is any game feel designed for this controller—or rather, if this controller feels designed for any game—it’s Halo. When I had the last Elite controller, I was in Halo’s “off” period, but now I am obsessed with Infinite, I can really see the value of such a controller, especially in the configurable rear paddle buttons , You can now jump or reload in it without using your thumb.
When I had my first Elite, I liked other competitive shooting games, but no one felt it as good as Infinite. Using paddles has become a reflex, so much so that when I sat down with a different controller to play some multiplayer games the other day, I immediately got worse. Elite has become my new default setting.
So, I am here to write down my fault. I have spoken ill of Elite Controller in the past, calling it a waste of money based on my sometimes frustrating and never-changing experience during the first iteration. But in its second form, I understand. I’m on the boat, despite the cost. Does it really make me better on Halo? I’m not sure. But it definitely feels better in your hand.
