343 Industries has some info on the game modes included in Season 2 Halo Infinite.
In Season 2: Lone Wolf, you can look forward to three modes as well as variants, featuring returning favorites and new content from Halo.
One of the modes this season is King of the Hill. While you probably already know how Back Mode plays, this iteration brings some changes. In it, a neutral hill will spawn on the map. When this happens, both teams will fight for control to earn points. When the player enters the hill unattended, it gets captured and starts getting one point per second in the capture bar. Once a team’s occupation bar is full, the team will earn a point and generate new hills elsewhere on the map.
Land Grab is another mode in which there will be three neutral zones at the start of the match. When you capture the area, it will be locked and give your team a point. When all areas are occupied, there will be an intermission before three new neutral areas are generated. The first team to score 11 points wins.
The third mode is the Last Spartan Standing mode based on Season 2’s lone wolf theme. In this free-to-play experience, 12 players will respawn on the Big Team Battle map, with five respawns and a limited loadout. When you run out of respawns, you can leave the game without penalty or watch the game. If you get killed in a match, you can level up to a different weapon, similar to how leveling up killers works. The game ends when only one Spartan remains standing.
King of the Hill and The Last of the Spartans will be available on day one. King of the Hill will be inserted into Quick Play and Ranked Arenas and will appear in its own playlist. The Last Spartan Standing will be available immediately as the first season event and will remain available throughout the season after the event ends.
Land Grab will be available as part of the Fracture: Entrenched event about a month after Season 2 launches, after which it will remain available throughout the season.
Season 2 of Halo Infinite kicks off on May 3.
