It’s no secret that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode is currently enjoying great popularity. Unfortunately, the cross-play feature is currently causing a new problem and Xbox players are annoyed.
It’s doing well at Halo Infinite. The number of players in the recently released multiplayer mode is very decent despite great competition from Battlefield 2042 and CoD: Vanguard and player satisfaction is high. At least largely, because meanwhile a problem arises that all shooters have to struggle with: cheaters.
This has now gone so far that Xbox players are completely annoyed and want an option to deactivate cross-play with PC players, at least until an effective anti-cheat solution is implemented. Meanwhile, reports from players who have encountered cheaters are piling up on Reddit and on social media.
There is certainly an option to be matched only with controller players, but not in quick play or in the current event. In addition, this does not prevent you from being matched against cheating players who use a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard on the PC.
The fact that cheats are on the rise for Halo Infinite is also shown, for example, by the Twitter account of the Anti-Cheat Police Department, who during their research have already come across a dozen cheat sellers who sell cheats for Halo Infinite for a few dollars sell. There are also ways to cheat on consoles, but these are much more difficult to use. 343 Industries should therefore consider whether an optional deactivation of cross-play on the part of the console player would not be a valid option.
