Good news for horror fans: John Carpenter’s Halloween Not only was it given one, but two video games, with the director himself helping out in the making of one of them.
It may be the height of summer, but it’s never too early to celebrate Halloween, is it? Okay, we’re holding off on seasonal celebrations for now, but there are a few reasons to be excited for Halloween, and that’s Evil Dead: The Game developer Boss Team Games has announced two games based on the classic movie series. Details are limited at the moment, but it’s known that both games are being “developed in conjunction with the producers of the Halloween series,” according to IGN.

Notably, one of them is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and will include some input from the original film’s director, John Carpenter. “As an avid gamer, I’m excited to help bring Michael Myers to life in this game, and I hope to scare the hell out of you,” Carpenter said in a statement. As Carpenter noted, the film director loves playing video games and even spoke about his obsession with Fallout 76 a few years ago – he even shared that he thought Dead Space would make a great movie.

The official press release states that these new games will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time.” Exactly how this will happen is unclear at this time – it could be a straight single-player release, or a multiplayer game set in some of the film’s key locations. Given Boss Team Games’ history with the multiplayer game Evil Dead: The Game, an online Halloween game is entirely possible.
“Everyone at Boss Team Games is a huge fan of horror films, and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans,” said Steve Harris, CEO of Boss Team Games, in a statement. “To be able to work with such an iconic character as Michael Myers and create based on John Carpenter’s original vision is simply a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is excited and honored to be working with Malik Akkad and John Carpenter to bring a one-of-a-kind experience to fans of both the films and video games.”
Wish there was a dedicated scream button. After all, what’s the point of Final Girl without her iconic scream?
