Harvard will keep the controversial Taiwanese horror game "Pious" as part of its library's East Asian collection.
Developer Red Candle announced the news on Facebook and confirmed that Devotion will indeed be retained, despite the pious imitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to remove it from Steam.
"In the past year, we are sorry to worry our community," the studio wrote in a post. "Although the current state may not be ideal, we remain here and nothing has changed-we are now and will always develop the game with the same enthusiasm."
They continued: "This has been a difficult year for many of us, but we will move on and hope that in the future we can share more works with you."
Earlier this year, after discovering content that mocked the Chinese president, Devotion found itself overwhelmed by negative comments from Chinese players-mentioning Xi Jinping's champion Pooh. The game also includes an Easter egg, which is said to be a talisman cursing everyone in mainland China.
Since then, game developers have issued an apology, saying that the placeholder art in the prototype was accidentally left in the game.
Devotion joined the Harvard Yenching Library with another game from the studio, Detention, which is still available on Steam.
