Disney’s Marvel movies continue to be reasonably successful, but the big hype surrounding the MCU and the Avengers seems to be over. Why is it?
The first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are a pretty rounded affair. Most of the heroes were first introduced individually, then brought together, their stories deepened and finally there was a big duel against Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”. The end of an era that had been prepared for many years.
Phase 4 then began at a leisurely pace, which surprised no one. The great threat was averted, Iron Man and Captain America had said goodbye, the Avengers team had to be reassembled. Patience was required, just like in the early days of the MCU.
But now, four years after “Avengers: Endgame”, patience is slowly turning to impatience. When is it really going to start? Disney’s Marvel universe seems to have several problems that make a return to the golden age of superheroes unlikely.
