One thing that bridges the ten-year gap between Dragon Age: Inquisition and its recently released successor, Dragon Age: Veiled Keeper, is that fans have wondered aloud if BioWare would consider releasing a collection of older games in the series , all of these games are well-tuned for modern hardware.
After all, the developer’s other massive RPG series, Mass Effect, gets just that in its Legendary Edition – a set that gives people the first three games plus some extra goodies, all in one set, and features great visuals and quality-life improvements – back in 2021. It’s a great way to make it easier for people to hack and play old games, but creating such a collection for Dragon Age seems more challenging than releasing some remastered version of We Will Explode. OK? ‘About the world.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Veilguard creative director John Epler was asked about the possibility of the studio creating a Mass Effect-style collection of older Dragon Age games. While the developer did admit that this is something he’d like to see happen, he also explained that since the first three entries used different engines, it would face obstacles that the ME series didn’t.
Unlike the original Mass Effect trilogy, which was all made using Unreal Engine, “Dragon Age: Origins” was made using the Eclipse engine, “Dragon Age II” used an upgraded version of the engine, and “Inquisition” switched to it. Frostbite engine.
“I think I’m one of about 20 people left at BioWare who actually used Eclipse,” Epler explained, adding: “It’s not going to be as easy as Mass Effect, but we do love the original game. Always. Don’t say never, I guess that’s what it comes down to.”
So this isn’t an outright rejection, but rather an indication that launching such a series might not be as obvious a no-brainer as the existence of a Mass Effect Legendary Edition may at first seem.
