Have you heard about the betrayal of the battle droid B1-0516 in Star Wars? A Sith will never tell you this story

The history of Star Wars is full of strong ideals and convictions, but also betrayals and changes of sides… some more justified than others. Although the most famous are Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and the former clone soldier Finn, there are many more characters who have gone from one place to another. One of my favorites and least known is the battle droid B1-0516nicknamed Bats.

If you have never heard of Bats it is because he does not appear in the movies, but in the chapter “Roger, Roger” of the comic anthology called Star Wars Adventures (2017). And before you ask: yes, this is a canon story, as the wiki Star Wars Fandom.

Star Wars ships invade Starfield with incredible designs ranging from massive destroyers to starfighters

B1-0516 was a battle droid that fought in the Separatist droid army in the Clone Wars. He faithfully served the cause until the Battle of Horain, where a stray blaster shot damaged his processor. This allowed the droid to question his orders and existence, and he eventually joined the Republic army. He came to fight alongside the legendary General Kenobi and Captain Rex. It was the latter who renamed it Bats.

He carried out infiltration and espionage work, although he also fought bravely against his former colleagues. General Kenobi and Captain Rex thought so highly of Bats that they presented him to Anakin Skywalker to be part of his crazy plans. The relationship became so good that Bats even asked Skywalker for his own lightsaber.
