The HBO series is a hit, with the first episode now drawing more than 22 million viewers domestically, nearly five times as many as the premiere.
As previously reported, the second episode added 1 million viewers to the series, a 22% increase, the largest two-week audience gain for any HBO original series.

Based on the critically acclaimed video game, The Last of Us takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. In it, a hardy survivor named Joel is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive ghetto.
What starts as a small job quickly turns into a brutal journey as both must travel across America and depend on each other to survive.
The first season stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Mo Ray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Catherine, Storm Reed as Riley, Mel Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce Starring Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Kevon Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence.
Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker also star.
New episodes of the series will premiere on HBO Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will be available on HBO Max through the March 12 finale.
