Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out for a while. And while the role-playing game goes from success to triumph and beyond to write its place in the history books, its lead developer Swen Vincke is already working on something new.
The Larian boss was now bursting with joy Post on Reddit to the public. He has something to celebrate.
Not a teaser but still teased
In advance: Swen Vincke makes it clear that the following should not be taken as a teaser for Larian’s next big project:
It’s not what you think. This is not a preview of an announcement. I’m just really excited to see where this goes and want to share some of my excitement. It will be some time before we talk about it.
He is simply overjoyed with what he achieved:
That was a great morning! After four months of rewriting and rewriting and throwing out ideas and then rethinking them, I’ve finally found what needs to be Act 1 of this thing I’ve been working on. Quote me when it’s revealed to see how much of today’s draft remains. But I suspect a lot.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 the renaissance of old school RPGs? – with RBTV
He leaves open what exactly this is about. Instead, he tries to pass on what you have learned during creative work:
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that working on abandoned designs is never in vain, even if you think the designs are crap. More often than not, work can be recycled once the right story has been found for it.
Keep going: He urges all writers to stick with it, never give up and remain self-critical – even if the situation seems hopeless.
Creative work is the exploration of a vast space of possibilities and it can take time to find the right path.
By the way, it won’t be a classic add-on for Baldur’s Gate 3, as we have already reported based on a statement from an interview.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How the new number 1 in our RPG ranking made the impossible possible
Die Community is of course teased in the meantime, although Vincke clearly wants this not to happen. But curiosity is practically overflowing from the comments under the chief developer’s post. But we all still have to be patient until we find out which story has already cost the author a lot of effort, but which ultimately also brought a lot of joy.
Meanwhile, based on the speculations under the post, you can ponder wildly: What is he currently writing so focused on?
Now it’s your turn! What believes? What is Swen Vincke currently working on? There will most likely not be a DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3. Do you have any desires in your heart for this ominous first act and everything after that? Or do you really not care, as long as you get more from Larian? Feel free to write us your opinions and ideas in the comments!
