Healthy Diablo 4 players are trying to make up for the game’s lack of social features

The bigger Diablo 4 gets, the more urgent the need for in-game social features becomes. Diablo IV has a top-notch party expansion system, but it’s disappointingly lacking a basic landfill system.

The problem doesn’t become apparent until you finish the campaign, reach level 50, and start entering the endgame. While most players will be fine enough to complete the campaign alone, things start to get more difficult towards the end game.

Hope you have a group of friends to explore this big world together.

Diablo IV is an MMO, but it doesn’t have some of the basic group-finding features that characterize most MMOs. The game even wants players to be able to congregate together, increasing the XP gain, and this even applies to players near other players. Especially towards the endgame, where Diablo IV’s hostility towards the single player becomes more intense.

An example is the game’s apex dungeon, which you need to beat to access the different world tiers. These are grueling, multi-level dungeons suitable for groups, even though they can be completed individually.

Reddit user AwesomePrawn, who suffered in one such dungeon from running it alone, decided to help other players who were struggling in their own Capstone Dungeons. They do this by browsing Xbox Live’s LFG requests, responding to randomly joined parties, and helping them with quests.

Apparently, people are willing to give over 2 million gold in exchange for services that help them navigate dungeons, which is a lot of money in a game. But AwesomePrawn isn’t after the gold medal, they’re just trying to save everyone else from the pain they’re going through.

Be the light in the darkness and respond to landfill gas requests.

“The people I met and talked to last night were crazy, from kids to grandparents,” they wrote. The teasing, the mildly insulting, but you can tell it’s a very positive part of their relationship and I admit it’s very cute.”

But the best part of the experience was meeting a 70-year-old grandparent who had played Diablo for decades.

“A lovely old gentleman from Texas, his joy and enthusiasm for the game was contagious and warm. The man clearly enjoyed building his characters and finding the perfect gear for his class, he even taught Taught me something I didn’t realize at the time. Speaking of flower whisper obos, so thank you Bad JuJu.”
