Blizzard Entertainment has announced the Year of the Wolf, entering the trading card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. It starts in the new month of April – and then you can expect a whole range of innovations in the course of this.
With “Festival of Legends”, the first major expansion for Hearthstone was recently presented in 2023, but Blizzard Entertainment has prepared a lot more for the trading card game. The year of the wolf will start in April – and in the course of this the core set will be updated again.
With this update, the creators of the Standard format say goodbye to the Forged in the Barrens, United in Stormwind, and Cleaved in Alterac Valley expansions. Instead, there will be the expansions “Journey to the Sunken City”, “Murder at Castle Nathria”, “March of the Lich King” and “Festival of Legends”.
And there’s also a lot going on when it comes to key words: the “tradable” keyword is getting an update, “magnetic” is making a return and, as recently confirmed, priests have the keyword “overhealing” to discover. From the official side it says in detail:
Update for the keyword: tradable
- The tradable keyword was originally introduced with the Stormwind Union set and will become a permanent keyword starting this year.
- Because tradable only exists in United in Stormwind City and Cleaved Alterac Valley at the moment, we’ve added some tradable cards from those expansions to the core set to start with.
- In the Year of the Wolf and beyond, new tradable cards will find their way into the game.
Returning keyword: Magnetic
- The Magnetic keyword was present on certain ‘Mechs in Dr. Find Boom’s secret lab.
- ‘Mechs with Magnetic could either be deployed normally OR placed directly to the left of another ‘Mech on the board to fuse with it, giving that ‘Mech the stats, effects, and enchantments of the ‘Mech being played.
- Magnetic is a temporary addition to the core set and will not necessarily remain part of the core set after this update.
Priest Update and New Keyword: Overheal
- Healing is what fundamentally defines priests as a class. However, this doesn’t necessarily always feel as powerful as other core aligns like damage or armor.
- The new keyword overheal was created to make healing more flexible and rewarding.
- Cards with overheal have an effect that triggers when they are healed past their maximum health.
- Overheal is a new core class mechanic, comparable to combo for rogues.
