There are many rumors and leaks about new enemy types in Helldivers 2, from the arrival of the Enlightened to Faction Bosses, such as the enormous Terminid worms. We’ve been waiting for all this for a long time and everything indicates that we won’t see it for quite some time, but a recent leak has signaled the return of a nightmare on legs from Helldivers (2015).
The most veteran helldivers surely remember the Impaler with a certain terror and animosity. It is not for less. This bug (Terminid) is a nightmare with legs and, like mention your description, is a very different threat compared to his friends. According to new leaks, he would be preparing his return in Helldivers 2.
“This was discussed a bit on Discord, I thought it would be worth mentioning here,” IronS1ghts mentions on Reddit in his post about the Impaler. His name appeared in the files after patch 01,000,400 (not his model) and that set off all the fans’ alarms. And it is very timely because the Terminids have not stopped mutating and evolving since we used the Termicidal toxin against them. In fact, we destroyed the planet Meridia because they became uncontrollable.
Dealing significant damage to the body will cause all tentacles to retract, as will stunning the body. However, the tentacles ignore the effects. Any damage done to the Impaler’s tentacles does not transfer to its main body.
- Use: Remember that this information is based on leaks and rumors and not official announcements from Arrowhead Game Studios. We recommend not taking it as a certainty.
What makes the Impaler so special? It is one of the few Terminidae that does not need to get too close to kill us. It sinks its head into the ground, digs tunnels with its tentacles and attacks the helldivers from below to catch them by surprise (gameplay minute 0:10). In Helldivers (2015) Two blows were enough to knock us down. And to make matters worse, he is a tank type (high armor and resistance) and represents a high level danger. Luckily, he is vulnerable to fire like the Overrunner.
In iGamesNews | I have abandoned my position in Helldivers 2 to travel to the past and fulfill the wish of many players: defend SuperEarth from the Automata
In iGamesNews | I’ve seen Helldivers 2’s Automata front become a “nobody wants to touch our worlds” problem, and it’s for good reason.
In iGamesNews | I would never touch the friendly fire of Helldivers 2, but I think this forgotten zombie video game could make it a lot better
