Helldivers 2’s latest big patch tweaks 24 weapons and strategies – letting you spread democracy on higher difficulties

Helldivers 2 has had a bit longer to wait between patches than we’re used to, with the last patch dropping on April 16 to fix some buggy passive abilities. That’s just changed, though, with a major new update released – and random balancing changes to 24 different weapons and strategies.

Yes, while people just finished fighting to get themselves a new rocket launcher in the game’s latest major order, a lot of other things in their arsenal have just been repurposed. The good news for those worried about the community’s ability to continue its impressive run of wins is that quite a few of this update’s gun tweaks do appear to be on the coin-gaining side.

If you look at the notes for patch 01.000.300, you’ll see a ton of changes to primary, secondary, and secondary weapons. Some of them, such as the Explosive Crossbow and BR-14 Adjudicator, have received considerable rework, while others have only been tweaked in a few areas.

In addition to changes to the number of magazines a specific gun can carry, many of the changes made appear to be aimed at making certain weapons more effective, either by directly buffing damage, or improving attributes like rate of fire and armor penetration. In terms of nerfs, the likes of the Quasar Cannon (its recharge time increased by 5 seconds) and Dominator (damage reduced from 300 to 275) have taken a hit.

In addition to this, the patch also includes some balance changes to some strategies, certain enemy types and enemy patrols spawned by parties of less than four players, as well as reducing burning damage by 15% and ensuring that “armor has [an] Armor class above 100 now also reduces headshot damage. Those who are really into democratic roleplaying are also getting a number of benefits, chief among them being that the “Spread Democracy” mission, also known as ‘Raise the Flag’, can now You can enjoy higher difficulty.”

Finally, I must point out some slightly interesting changes, as well as highly requested features, such as the ability to disable automatic vaults. For example, “When preparing, Helldivers now salute to ensure maximum democratic readiness” and “The victory pose now only applies to those being evacuated”.

Yes, we do need those. Beyond that, there’s a lot more in this huge patch, so be sure to comb through the full notes yourself if you’re into that.
