While its numbers may not be nearly as high as sites like Palworld, its popularity Hellraiser 2 Somehow it seems more tangible. The game continues to break its concurrent player record, with the latest player count (on Steam) at 411,359 – reached just 9 hours ago.
The game has long had server issues that have affected everything from delayed/failed mission rewards, to matchmaking headaches, all the way to players being unable to log in at all. So it’s no surprise that the continued rise in popularity has led to more trouble.

Many existing server capacity issues were compounded over the weekend as player numbers surged again. These were the game’s toughest two days to date, and it led developer Arrowhead to take the unusual step of limiting the number of concurrent players.
As of right now, thanks to a recent patch, there is actually a login queue. This is to better communicate to the player what’s actually happening, which is a major upgrade from a launch system that doesn’t provide feedback.
As with any form of queue for a popular game, long login times are to be expected. Unfortunately – and strangely – this resulted in some players continuing to play, sometimes all night long, just to not lose their position.
On the Helldivers subreddit and the game’s Discord server, some people brag about leaving their games running for hours to avoid login queues. On the PlayStation 5, some people have suggested putting the console into rest mode to prevent the game from shutting down completely and logging it off the server.
This obviously means that servers are filling up unnecessarily with AFK players, which is actually a problem other popular online games have had in the past. solution? AFK timer to kick players out after a period of inactivity.
This is something the Arrowhead team is looking into, something the game’s creative director and studio CEO Johan Pilestedt also confirmed, on twitter. Pilestedt also said that solving the server problem is not simply a matter of renting more server space.
“It’s not about money or buying more servers,” he said. Reply to fans on Twitter. “This is a labor issue. We need to optimize the back-end code. We are reaching some real limits.”
The good news is that some “24/7” work in progress This week will bring a new update on PC and PS5. As expected, the patch will address core issues like matchmaking, server load, and login times. However, the studio’s production director warned that “no one update will fix everything.” Because it’s just a problem that requires constant work.
